As you know, today is Peace Day, and we have been talking a little bit about European history. We have learnt that on Tuesday it was the 70th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz, and we have talked about what happened there, and what the Second World War meant.
Here is the video we saw on the anniversary of the liberation. In it, two survivors want to tell everyone that everything did happen, and that it shouldn't happen again.
We have learnt words such as:
Discrimination
Racist
Intolerance
Holocaust
Peace Day celebrates the opposite, it celebrates:
Peace
Tolerance
Friendship
Love
But sometimes, it's difficult to find love in this world. This is precicely what the song of the week speaks about.
Listen carefully to the lyrics. I know it's fast and difficult, but you have the lyrics on paper, read them before you listen, because they are very meaningful.
I especially like these sentences:
But if you only have love for your own race
Then you only leave space to discriminate
And to discriminate only generates hate
Most of us only care about money making
Selfishness got us following the wrong direction
Infecting the young minds faster than bacteria
Kids want to act like what they see in the cinema
Yo', whatever happened to the values of humanity?
Whatever happened to the fairness and equality?
