PLAYING WITH FOCUS

Hello, everybody!

Today I'm posting two photographs I took in Cazorla last year, to show you the difference between objects and backgrounds "in focus" and "out of focus" .

The following has an object at the front which is in focus, and the background out of focus:

This one is the other way round, the object at the front is out of focus, and the background in focus:

Can you see the difference? In the first picture, we can see the ice at the front in detail, while in the second picture, it's blurred. The same happens with the background, in the first picture we can only see the blurred shape of the mountains and pine trees, while in the second we can see everything in detail.

Do you think it's interesting to play with focus when we take pictures or make drawings? Personally, I think it's a great way of being more original and realistic when drawing.

Have a nice week!

What a weird name for a blog!

So many of you have so much asked
Why I put "roon" instead of "room"
That I have felt bound to the task
Of writing about this "macaroon".

Macaroon's a single word,
It's a French, delicious cake
Known almost all around the world
(Which I've never tried, nor baked)

And since many people say
English is "a piece of cake"
Or easy peasy, or chupao
(as long as teachers may allow
Their students to have some fun)
That's how I thought of the "pun".

I hope I've clarified the reason why
I put these silly names one day.
And if I haven't, never mind
It's all big nonsense anyway.

Planets

Hello again,

Today I'm posting some videos that we have seen in class and that clearly explain some concepts we have been learning in this unit.

This first one is your favourite, a comparison on the sizes of planets and stars of our Solar System and our galaxy, the Milky Way:

This other one explains why we have day and night, due to the Earth's rotation around its axis:

In the following video, you can review why we have seasons, due to the Earth's orbit around the Sun and the fact that the Earth's axis is tilted:

On the last video, you can review everything we have learned regarding the moon: its rotation and orbit around the Earth, its phases and the two kinds of eclipses: lunar and solar:

I hope you  find them useful for reviewing and interesting to watch. You can leave your comments below.
Have a nice day!

Here I add the video that Rodrigo has recommended us. It explains the formation of the Earth and it's really really interesting, I'm sure you are going to love it. Thank you, Rodrigo!
